From Casa Lumen you can walk to the finest squares and monuments of Baroque and ancient Rome. Here are our favourites.

1 min walk

Piazza Navona

Rome’s most famous Baroque square, with Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers and the dome of Sant’Agnese in Agone. Magical at dawn, before the crowds arrive.

5 min walk

Pantheon

Almost two thousand years old and still the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome. Worth seeing in the rain, when it falls through the oculus.

5 min walk

Campo de’ Fiori

A market of fruit, flowers and spices in the morning, a lively square at night — surrounded by bakeries, wine bars and historic trattorias.

12 min walk

Trevi Fountain

A stroll through the lanes, past the Pantheon — go early in the morning to find it almost empty.

12 min walk

Castel Sant’Angelo

Cross the Tiber on the Bridge of Angels; from the castle terrace the view reaches all the way to St Peter’s.

18 min walk

Roman Forum

The political heart of ancient Rome: temples, triumphal arches and the Via Sacra. A pleasant walk via Largo Argentina and Piazza Venezia.

25 min walk

Colosseum

Carry on past the Forums to reach Rome’s great symbol. Book online and pick the first entry of the morning.

Getting here

From Fiumicino Airport

Take the Leonardo Express train to Roma Termini (about 32 minutes), then bus 40 or 64 to Corso Vittorio Emanuele (about 20 minutes). Taxis charge a fixed fare to the historic centre.

From Ciampino Airport

Several shuttle buses connect Ciampino to Termini in about 40 minutes. From Termini, take bus 40 or 64 to Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

From Termini Station

Buses 40 and 64 leave from Piazza dei Cinquecento and drop you a few minutes’ walk from us. By taxi it takes about 15 minutes.

By car

The historic centre is a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL): do not drive in. We recommend a partner car park just outside the zone — just ask us for details.
